How to win an election, Liberal-style

As we look at the news lately, we see more and more news lies stating that the GOP is doomed due to sex scandals, infighting, etc. and that more and more Republicans are willing to stay away from the polls this time around, thereby securing a Democratic win this election cycle.   I would like to call their bluff.

1996 ELECTIONS

I was in Oklahoma for the majority of Bill Clinton's first term as our Whatever-in-Chief. During this period of time, three subjects interested me the most in the news.

1) The creation of the European Union and the Festival of Lights.
2) "Mad Vlad," Vladimir Zhirinovsky and his ant-semitic tirades around the world.
3) Coverage of Bill Clinton and his many cred-destroying blunders.

Looking back over Clinton's first term, I was able to see a number of events leading to my complete distaste of his administration. There was Waco, the grandest blunder of all. There were his many misquotes of the bible. There was a grand collection of 'photo-ops' that were entirely inappropriate for furthering his political ratings. All this stuck in my head as time went on.

Fast forward to the 1996 election season. I had been travelling during the prior 7 years and had never settled long enough in one place to vote. Here I was, 25 years old, with an election coming up, and I was mad. I was going to have my say.

At a local retail outlet, I was approached by a petitioner. I do not remember what the petition was for, but I agreed with it, and so did my fiancee. So we registered to vote on the spot, and then commenced signing the petition. That was that.

Come election day, I was in a fit. I was watching the elections unfold before my very eyes, and I had not recieved my voter packet or polling place info. I called my local elections official. I was not registered to vote. I was angry. My voter registration app was taken by a petitioner and used to validate my signature, but was not used to register me to vote. I even had the registration reciept in my wallet to prove my point.  It didn't matter.  Nothing left to do but watch the returns roll in on the television.

Then came 5:00 pm. The polls were closing on the East Coast. Then the media fired the shot heard all the way over here on the West Coast. Bill Clinton was declared the winner of the 2006 presidential race exactly one half hour after the eastern polls closed. There was still two and a half hours of voting time left in my state. But the damage had been done. Reports stated that California had an extremely low turnout that year, and based on the accounts of all the conservatives I spoke with on the matter, this was the case. Some had heard that news report, and, while preparing to sneak into the polls at the end of their work days, had decided that the news reports were true and that there was no reason to even bother with voting. Bill Clinton won by intentional disinformation from the media.

2000 Election Cycle

Working one night as a restaurant manager in Northern California, I was in and out of the office all night getting election results. Bush seemed to be clinging to a lead that waxed and waned by each report. When Bush was finally declared the winner over his opponent, Al Gore, I danced out of the office and hollered across the restaurant that Bush had won. There was a loud cheer from the few tables left before we closed. It wasn't until I left at 2:00 am that it came to light that Gore was going to challenge the election, I thought  that it was just going to be a matter of a one night recount and that  we would be hearing the same results 24 hours later. The entire country soon learned that this was not to be the case.

During the next thirty days, we witnessed Al Gore and his backers crying like babies that the election was miscounted, that Gore won by a long shot and they were not going to let the GOP steal a victory that was rightfully theirs. Court challenges after court challenges could not bring the leftie pipe dream to fruition.

By the same token, there was one thing that Bush did in the process that gained my confidence and made me even more comfortable with my choice. Bush hired his independent council to set up office, and he went about the business of taking over the Presidency. He did not rant and rave in front of cameras. He did not send his staffers out there to rally the troops. He simply went about his job and just answered every challenge that the Democratic party could throw at him. In the end, he won. Plain and simple. But nowadays, listening to the left wallow in their pity, you wouldn't think that was the case. This was along the same lines of what we watched play out in the 2004 election cycle.

2008 Election Cycle...a warning in the wind.

Here we sit, on the exit of the sitting President. We are in the middle of a long war, and on the precipice of two others. The choices aren't very clear as to who is actually going to get the nod on either side, but the choices are narrowing down. According to Pollingreport.com, the GOP candidates in the eyes of the voters should be McCain or Giuliani. I know that I will wind up voting my party, only because anything at this point seems better than a Democrat in the White House. I do not agree with or even like McCain, but if he is the incumbent, I will grudgingly give in, despite the fact he has proven himself to be the Republican version of John Kerry in the flip-flop department.

What worries me, and alot of the pundits on the radio and tv, is the fact that the left is up to it's old tricks. Reports are coming out stating that polls show the Rebpublican voters are going to stay home this year due to the lack of any viable candidate. The reports are saying that the GOP voters are not happy with their chosen candidates, and therefore, rather than voting for a Democrat, they are just not going to vote.

This is the beginning of a very long haul of disinformation and propaganda that will have to be waded thfough up untill the next general election. The American version of Tokyo Rose, if you will. The reports are designed to dishearten the right leaning voters into submission on election day. Consider the sources. From China's Xinghua   to The Huffington Post; from  Yahoo News to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer;  the idea being pushed is the same...the GOP is not coming to dinner this time around.

I have to admit that when I first heard this, I kind of thought it was over. To a point, it is, but only if the casual observer pays any sort of attention to these false claims. Consider it subliminal advertising. The Dems are lulling you into staying home on election day so they can STEAL (yes, I said it) the election. But as is true with subliminal advertising, if you consider yourself your own person and have a strong will, you can get up and go to your polling place, laughing all the way. Or we can act as sheep, as we did in the '96 elections and stay home, handing over the Presidency on a silver platter.

What will you do?
